Spent the day on the wonderful Watercress Line railway yesterday. I have several hours of recordings. What was noticeable throughout the day was the constant hiss of escaping steam. Every recording I have is couched in hiss. I thought it was the equipment for a while, but no, it is everywhere!I was a bit disappointed at first, but thought that in fact, hiss would be the sonic marker for this location. Layers of hiss.
